The Minnesota Wild opened their five game home stand with a big 4-2 victory over Calgary Friday night.
The win for the Wild helped them clear some more space in the Western Conference playoff race, as the Flames came into the contest four points behind the Wild.
Calgary scored first as Josh Jooris lit the lamp just under six minutes into the contest, but Calgary’s offense would flame out after that.
And the Wild answered, Matt Dumba’s power play goal midway through the first evened the score at one.
The contest stayed knotted at one until the third. Thomas Vanek’s 20th goal of the season put the Wild on top.

Mikko Koivu added an insurance goal to put the Wild up 3-1, and then Zach Parise put the game away after stealing a puck and taking it in on the breakaway.
