The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority will have a special meeting Friday morning to select the lead contractor for the Vikings new home in downtown Minneapolis, Finance & Commerce reports.
There are two remaining finalists vying to oversee the nearly $1 billion construction project. Twin Cities-based Mortenson Construction and a joint venture of Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Hunt Construction Group and Minneapolis-based Kraus-Anderson.
The Business Journal notes Mortenson led the construction of Target Field, TCF Bank Stadium, Xcel Energy Center and Target Center. Hunt has built a dozen stadiums for the National Football League.
MPR says the company hired could break ground this fall.
