Adrian Peterson ran for 203 yards and Terence Newman had two interceptions as the Vikings defeated the Oakland Raiders 30-14 Sunday afternoon in Oakland.
The win, coupled with the Packers’ loss to the Lions earlier in the day, gave the Vikings (7-2) sole possession of first place in the NFC North.
The Vikings will host the Packers at TCF Bank Stadium next Sunday for their first game of the season.

The Raiders were down by nine points, 23-14, late in the fourth quarter and were threatening to score, when Newman intercepted the ball in the end zone to end the threat.
On the ensuing drive, Peterson broke through for an 80-yard touchdown run to put the game away.
Corderrelle Patterson ran back a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown, just after the Raiders had tied the game. His score put the Vikings up 20-14 at halftime.
