The Timberwolves are traveling to Mexico City later this year.
The team announced that the NBA is sending them there for a home game against the San Antonio Spurs on Dec. 4.
It’s one of two NBA “Global Games” this coming season. The other is Brooklyn and Atlanta playing in London.
For Minnesota, it’s their second trip outside the country for a regular season game. The first time was in 1999 when they played Sacramento in Japan.
“With the huge international presence on our current roster and our increasing global popularity, this is a natural fit for us,’ said Timberwolves President Chris Wright said on the team’s official web site. “The NBA has done a phenomenal job in growing our game globally and we’re excited to be a part of history as the NBA continues to expand its brand internationally.”
