The Timberwolves lost to the Suns in overtime, 84-83 at Phoenix on Tuesday night.
Minnesota got off to a horrible start. A horrible first three quarters, really. They scored 15 points in the first and 18 points in both the second and third quarters. With 51 points heading into the fourth quarter it looked like the Gophers, who scored 77 in an upset win over Indiana, might outscore them.
Derrick Williams led the Timberwolves with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Ricky Rubio handed out 10 assists for his seventh double-digit assist performance in his last ten games.
Former Timberwolves Wes Johnson and Michael Beasley came off the bench for the Suns. Johnson, who typically doesn’t even play, played 35 minutes en route to 14 points and nine rebounds. Beasley scored four points in just 13 minutes.
