It looks like Tubby Smith is headed to Texas Tech.
The Associated Press is reporting that Smith has reached a deal to be the school’s next men’s basketball coach.
Smith was fired by Minnesota last week.
Smith would take over for interim Red Raiders coach Chris Walker, who went 11-20 this season overall and 3-15 in the Big 12.

The U of M is looking for a replacement for Smith. Several who were considered prospects for the job have inked other deals, including VCU coach Shaka Smart. Former Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders reportedly turned the Gophers down.
Smith would not be the first seasoned high-profile veteran coach at Texas Tech. Bob Knight had a 138–82 record from 2001 to 2008 as the Red Raiders coach.
