There’s “no way” the Arizona Cardinals will trade with the Minnesota Vikings for Adrian Peterson at the running back’s current salary, Monday Morning Quarterback’s Peter King reports.
King spoke with an unidentified source within the Cardinals organization.
“We haven’t had contact with the Vikings about it, to the best of my knowledge,” the source told King. “And there is no way we could live with those numbers. We just got Larry Fitzgerald’s contract under control. No way we’d add that salary.”

Meanwhile, Robinson also reports the Cardinals will be willing to part with a high draft pick if Peterson does go on the trading block.

Peterson-Fitzgerald swap?
NFL Media’s Marc Sessler writes that the remaining $45 million and three years left on Peterson’s contract is too much for interested teams. One solution would be trading a high-priced player to the Vikings; but such moves are “historically rare.”
What about Minnesota native and Cardinals star receiver Larry Fitzgerald? Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio doesn’t think it was an accident that the unnamed source mentioned Fitzgerald’s contract in his quote to King.
“For years, there’s been speculation that Fitzgerald would like to end his career in his home state of Minnesota, returning to the franchise for which he once served as a ball boy. Last season, speculation swirled that a straight up trade of Peterson for Fitzgerald could happen. Maybe it still could.”
Peterson in great shape
While he waits for word on his future, Peterson has been “grinding” in the weight room. Vikings defensive tackle Tom Johnson told SiriusXMNFL Radio on Saturday that he’s been working out with Peterson in Houston, Texas.
“He looks like he’s hungry,’’ Johnson said. “I can tell you that from the workouts that we’ve been going on. I thnk he has something to prove. … I think he definitely has a chip on his shoulder and he’s been taking it out on the weights.’’
