Four Lynx players finished in double figures in Sunday’s win.
A balanced offensive effort helped the Minnesota Lynx cruise to an 84-67 victory over the New York Liberty Sunday afternoon at Target Center in Minneapolis.
Four Lynx players finished in double figures, led by Napheesa Collier and Alanna Smith, who tallied 15 points apiece. Kayla McBride and Bridget Carleton each had 14, and the Lynx (3-1) wasted no time building an early advantage on Sunday.
Minnesota jumped ahead 31-17 after one quarter of play, and while the Liberty (4-2) outscored the Lynx by 10 in the second frame, Minnesota was able to pull away once again in the second half. The Lynx held the Liberty to just nine points in the fourth.
Breanna Stewart led the Liberty with a game-high 20 points on 8-for-18 shooting. The Lynx did a nice job on sharpshooter Sabrina Ionescu, holding her to 13 points on 5-for-14 shooting, including a 2-for-6 mark from 3-point range.
It was a nice way for the Lynx to rebound from their first loss of the season — an 83-82 overtime loss to the Connecticut Sun on Thursday. The Lynx will look to keep the momentum going when they return to action Sunday night against the Atlanta Dream.
