The Lynx swapped first-round picks with the Chicago Sky in the 2024 WNBA draft on Sunday in a trade that also brings forward Sika Kone to Minneapolis.
The Lynx announced on Sunday that they’ve traded the No. 7 overall pick and the rights to forward Nikolina Milic in the 2024 draft in exchange for the No. 8 pick from the Sky as well as the right to exchange first-round picks in the 2026 draft, a 2025 second-round pick and Kone, 21, who was taken in the third round in 2022.
“This trade in the WNBA draft continues our focus on building a foundation for sustained success,” Lynx coach and president of basketball operations Cheryl Reeve said in a statement.
The Lynx and Sky swapped a pair of prospects in Milic and Kone along with the pick swap. Milic has appeared in 70 for the Lynx over the last two seasons, averaging 5.9 points and 2.7 rebounds. Kone, meanwhile, played in 20 games as a rookie for the Sky last season after not seeing action with the New York Liberty, who selected her in the third round in 2022. Kone averaged 3.6 points and 3.0 rebounds per game.
Kone is currently playing with the Spanish club Perfumerias Avenida, where she’s averaging 11.2 points and 7.2 rebounds in 21.5 minutes per game.
