The WNBA season tipped off Tuesday night and the Minnesota Lynx put together a strong second half to cruise to a road victory over the Seattle Storm, 83-70.
Napheesa Collier scored 13 of her 20 points in the second half and added 12 rebounds for a double-double. Collier took over the scoring after Alanna Smith led the Lynx with 16 points in the first half and had a game-high 22 on 8-of-15 shooting. She also had eight rebounds and four blocks.
Courtney Williams had 14 points, five rebounds, seven assists and five steals in her Lynx debut. Williams started 40 games for Chicago last season, where he played alongside Smith, who started 35 games in 2023 for the Sky.
Minnesota trailed 52-47 midway through the third quarter before taking control and outscoring the Storm 31-23 over the final 17 minutes, 35 seconds of the game, including doubling up the Storm 20-10 in the fourth quarter.
The Lynx are back in action Friday at 8:30 p.m. for their home opener at Target Center, which will be a rematch with Seattle.
