The current state of the 2013 Minnesota Twins is so hopeless that it seems as if winning is an accident, a fluke, so much so that any worthwhile fan can barely stand a victory.
Well, breathe easy sports fans, because the Twins exactly matched their potential in a stinkerooni loss to the Indians in Cleveland Saturday night, 7-2.
Liam Hendriks (0-2) was tagged for all seven runs, lasting just 4 1/3 innings before giving way to Anthony Swarzak, who tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief. Brian Dozier homered and drove in both Minnesota runs.
And that’s pretty much it for Twins highlights.
Cleveland? Oh, their story sounds much better:
Jason Kipnis broke out of an 0-for-19 slump as he homered and drove in a pair to help the Indians take the second of a three-game series.
Kipnis went 2-for-3 and scored twice for Cleveland, which won for the fourth time in its last five outings. Carlos Santana also went deep while Nick Swisher contributed a two-run double.
The win moved the Indians into third place in the crowded American League wild card race.
