The Minnesota Timberwolves drafted Kris Dunn with the fifth pick in the NBA Draft last month but ESPN believes he has the second-best chance to win the Rookie of the Year award next season.
ESPN NBA insider Chris Broussard believes Ben Simmons, who was the first overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers should be a lock to win the award.
Dunn received 8 first-place votes and 89 total points. Simmons gathered 35 first-place votes and 207 total points.
Following Simmons and Dunn is Brandon Ingram, who was the Los Angeles Lakers’ second-overall pick who collected 3 first-place votes and 71 total points.
Both Bleacher Report and Cheatsheet.com believe Dunn could win the award. If Dunn were to win ROY, he would be the third straight Timberwolves player to win Rookie of the Year, joining Andrew Wiggins (2015) and Karl-Anthony Towns (2016).
