DeLaSalle basketball standout Reid Travis has announced that he will make an official visit to the University of Minnesota on Oct. 25, several outlets are reporting.
Travis, Tyus Jones and Rashad Vaughn are all highly sought after prospects from the Twin Cities – part of the so-called “Big Three” that new coach Richard Pitino is trying to land after the departure of Tubby Smith.
Travis’ final four schools are Duke, Stanford, Gonzaga and Minnesota, reports the Pioneer Press. The Cardinals will get an official visit from him this week.
The Star Tribune reports that Travis’ father Nate says that ESPN called to ask if Reid would wait until Nov. 15 – two days after the start of the fall signing period – to announce his college decision, which ESPN wants to broadcast nationally.
In August, the 6-foot-8, 240-pound senior thought his hometown school would likely not get an official visit, according to the Pioneer Press. Minnesota’s campus was basically in Travis’ backyard, and he has made several unofficial visits. But once he scratched Michigan State off his list, he decided to pay propers to the U.
