Caitlin Clark’s favorite player growing up was Lynx legend Maya Moore so it was no surprise Wednesday when she admitted that she was a big fan of the Minnesota Lynx.
Clark, the No. 1 pick in the WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever, had a bit of a sheepish response when asked about her favorite team as a child.
“I grew up loving the Minnesota Lynx. I probably shouldn’t say that anymore,” she said with a laugh. “That was obviously the closest WNBA team from where I grew up. Minneapolis was four hours from my house and obviously they had a dynasty there that was obviously really easy to cheer for.”
That was Clark’s response to a question about the importance of the WNBA and what it represents from young girls. She then added: “I think the more eyeballs you can get on this league the better off this world is going to be.”

The WNBA season begins in May and the Lynx open the regular season May 14 at Seattle. The Lynx will face Clark and Indiana three times:
- July 14 Lynx vs. Fever (ESPN)
- Aug. 24 Lynx vs. Fever
- Sept. 6 Lynx at Fever
Does Clark remember the 2012 WNBA Finals when the Fever defeated the Lynx?
“I was 10 years old so it’s a bit fuzzy,” Clark answered with a laugh.
