The University of Minnesota Duluth controlled the game and shutout the Gophers 3-0 at Mariucci Arena on Friday night to open a home-and-home series with a big road win.
For the Gophers the shutout dealt them a stunning loss.
The Bulldogs controlled the game, outshooting Minnesota 38-17.
“They were the better team tonight from the get go,” said Gophers coach Don Lucia afterwards. “We couldn’t get anything going, they got all the loose pucks, it wasn’t our night tonight and they played very well and deserved to win the game.”
