Gophers men’s basketball coach Rich Pitino is quickly becoming the most fan-friendly head coach in the state.
In his latest blog, Pitino offers bullet points with the positives and negatives of every player on the roster from Saturday’s 30 minute team scrimmage.
Here’s our favorite bullet from each player.
Andre Hollins:Very good on the ball defensively
Austin Hollins: Didn’t have a sub and didn’t play tired
DeAndre Mathieu:Was most impressed with him
Joey King: Had an identity crisis and thought he was Malik Smith (took seven 3s)
Charles Buggs: His length and athleticism is perfect for the way we want to play
Elliott Eliason: 8 rebounds in 28 minutes
Oto Oseniecks: Got to the foul line 10 times
Malik Smith: Can’t settle on just being a jump shooter
Mo Walker:Zero offensive rebounds
Daquein McNeil: Has a bright future
Kendal Shell:Brings something positive to the team every single day
Maverick Ahanmisi: Took 9 high percentage shots
Wally Ellenson:Tried him at the 4 briefly and he adapted well

The Gophers hoops season tips off Nov. 1 with an exhibition game against Cardinal-Stritch. Yeah, we’ve never heard of that school, either. Apparently they were the 2013 NAIA Division II National Champs.
