Day 1 of Vikings training camp was rather uneventful, but a few notable players made plays or spoke throughout the day.
Mike Wobschall of Vikings.com writes that the wide receivers “were able to flash” during the first full practice (no pads). Per the report, Cordarrelle Patterson, Joe Webb, Jerome Simpson and Jarius Wright all made standout plays.
Before training camp began, Patterson sat down with ESPN to describe what he does to prepare for the long football season.
Jared Allen, who led the Vikings with 12 sacks during an injury plagued 2012 season, said his goal every season is to break the single-season sack record.
Second year safety Robert Blanton, who is considered a backup, had a nice first day, according to 1500 ESPN.
Kevin Seifert has more notes on Patterson, John Sullivan, Xavier Rhodes, Desmond Bishop, Christian Ponder and Matt Cassel.
