The Minnesota Lynx’s offseason took another blow on Thursday as free-agent forward Seimone Augustus signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Sparks. The 35-year-old’s agreement was confirmed on Twitter, which also announced that 2020 will be her final season in the WNBA.

Augustus was a mainstay for the Lynx after becoming the No. 1 pick in the 2006 WNBA Draft and went on to spend 14 seasons in Minnesota.
After quickly making an impact as the 2006 WNBA Rookie of the Year, Augustus became an eight-time All-Star, a WNBA first-team selection in 2012 and a five-time WNBA second-team selection while also winning three Olympic gold medals in international competition.
But her greatest accomplishments came from being part of one of the greatest dynasties in WNBA history, collecting four WNBA championships with the Lynx during the 2010s and winning the WNBA Finals MVP Award in 2011.

That dynasty appears to be fading further into history in recent weeks, however, as the Lynx have had a turbulent offseason.
Star forward Maya Moore announced last month that she is sitting out for a second straight season to help in the case of 39-year-old Jonathan Irons, who Moore believes was wrongfully accused of burglary. The Lynx were dealt another blow a couple of weeks later when veteran forward Rebekkah Brunson announced her retirement and joined the team’s coaching staff.
Now with the departure of Augustus, the Lynx will have to try to rebuild on the fly with a couple of months to go prior to the start of the 2020 season,
