The Lynx hit the jackpot when they selected Napheesa Collier sixth overall in th 2019 WNBA Draft, and the pick paid off big time as Collier has been named the WNBA Rookie of the Year.
The 22-year-old forward averaged 13.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and nearly two steals and a block in her debut season. She started all 34 regular-season games for the Lynx and was named an All-Star while leading all rookies in steals and finishing second in scoring, rebounding and blocks.
How good was she? Collier became just the fourth player in league history to finish a season with at least 400 points, 200 rebounds, 75 assists, 50 streals, 25 blocks and 25 made 3-pointers in a single season.
The others to fill the stat sheet so efficiently: Maya Moore, Tamika Catchings and Sheryl Swoopes. Swoopes is already in the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame and Catchings and Moore are sure to be inducted in the future.
The Lynx were one-and-done in the playoffs, losing to Seattle in the single-elimination first round last week.
