Not that DJ Baxendale has ever been considered a top prospect, but with eyes on New Britain tonight to see if he could make the transition from Fort Myers to New Britain being heavily disappointed in the result, it always helps to hear some positive news from the farm system.
Well, it gets no more positive than Byron Buxton and Miguel Sano at the moment.
Buxton, last year’s #2 overall pick, has shot up to the #2 prospect in all of baseball according to ESPN’s Keith Law. Sano, not to be overshadowed, especially seeing as he is a soon to be movie star, is sitting at #6 in Law’s latest rankings.
It’s all looking up on the offensive side of the baseball in the minors, despite hiccups from high-hoped pitching prospects at lower levels, and we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that it should only get better starting June 6th, when the Twins have the #4 overall pick in the 2013 MLB Draft.
