There’s a new name topping ESPN’s “Top 50 MLB Prospects” list.
Writer Keith Law has Twins phenom Byron Buxton at No. 1 on his mid-season list. Before the season, the 19-year-old outfielder ranked 22nd.
Other Twins prospects of note: Infielder Miguel Sano is No. 4 on the list. He started the season at No. 11.
Buxton, who started the 2013 campaign at low-Class A Cedar Rapids, is now in Fort Myers.
For the Miracle, a high-Class A team, Buxton is hitting .296 in 17 games. In 68 games in Iowa, he hit .341, with eight home runs and 55 RBIs.
