Rookie forward Jason Zucker made an immediate impact for the Minnesota Wild Sunday as he went coast-to-coast and scored an unassisted goal, his first in the NHL.
At the time, it tied the game with Detroit, 2-2, but it may have been the spark the Wild needed to beat the Red Wings as Torrey Mitchell scored 30 seconds later for a 3-2 lead.
“I was something I’ll never forget” Zucker said afterwards. “I skate fast and I try to get the puck on net. It’s what I’m trying to do.”
Sounds like a plan, especially for a team struggling to score goals.
