The Minnesota Vikings were beaten by the Tennessee Titans 24-17 in their final preseason game on Thursday night in Nashville.
The Vikings defeat marked the first preseason loss in Mike Zimmer’s head coaching career.
Tennessee took an early lead when Marcus Mariota connected with Harry Douglas on a 59 yard touchdown pass on the game’s opening drive, putting the Titans up 7-0.
A fumble by Stefon Diggs on the Vikings opening drive was recovered by Tennessee, setting them up for another first quarter score to go up 14-0.
Minnesota finally got on the scoreboard near the end of the first half when Blair Walsh connected on a 33-yard field goal, capping a 12-play, 65-yard drive. Walsh finished the night 1 of 2 in field goal attempts.

The Vikings cut the deficit to four early in the third when Taylor Heinecke found Dominique Williams for a 14 yard touchdown pass making the score 14-10.
Heinecke played the whole game and proved that he is a capable NFL quarterback, completing 27 of 41 passes for 279 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Diggs led the Vikings receivers with eight catches for 85 yards and a touchdown.

The Vikings will have to cut their roster to 53 by Saturday. They open the regular season Sept. 14 at San Francisco.
