Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer is letting the drama play out as long as he possibly can. On Friday, Zimmer told reporters that he’s not announcing who the starting quarterback will be until Sunday morning.
“I guess we’ll find out Sunday,” Zimmer said Friday, per ESPN’s Ben Goessling.
Rosters have to be turned in at least 90 minutes before kickoff, so we might not know if Sam Bradford or Shaun Hill is starting until 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
There’s no question Bradford will take over the starting role at some point, but if he starts Sunday it’ll be a clear sign that he’s learned enough of the offense to make Zimmer and offensive coordinator Norv Turner comfortable with the decision.
Even if Bradford doesn’t start, he has to be ready to play because he and Hill are the only quarterbacks dressing for Sunday’s opener against the Titans.
