It’s not looking like Zach Parise will be suiting anytime soon.
Parise left Monday’s practice early and general manager Chuck Fletcher said he suffered a setback.
“I talked briefly with Chuck, but he said it was a setback. I don’t know how much of a setback or anything,” head coach Bruce Boudreau said to Wild.com.
“We’ll see what it means. I don’t want to speculate, but it would have been better if he could have finished the practice,” said Fletcher.
Parise has yet to appear in a game this season, but he’s been able to practice with the team for the last week.
Considering how banged up the Wild already are – the team is also without Mikael Granlund, Nino Niederreiter, Charlie Coyle and Marcus Foligno – Boudreau said last weekend that he hoped Parise could return for this weekend’s road trip in Canada.
Although some believe the injury is related to his back, Parise denied that claim last week, and refused to disclose what exactly was bothering him.
However, Parise is about 18 months removed from a herniated disc injury that forced him to miss the 2016 postseason.
Minnesota practiced with just nine forwards on Monday. After recalling a slew of forwards from Iowa, the Wild sent those players down due to the long layoff and salary cap problems.
It’s likely they’ll make multiple call ups by the time the team hits the ice for their next game, which isn’t until Friday, Oct. 20.
