On Saturday the Timberwolves announced shooting guard Zach LaVine will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL in his left knee.
LaVine suffered a knee contusion in Minnesota’s loss to the Detroit Pistons on Friday night but now it appears the injury is much worse than expected. He’s supposed to have surgery on the torn ACL in the near future.
The loss is a big blow for the Wolves considering the season LaVine was having. In 47 games, LaVine was averaging a career-high 18.9 points per game, while shooting 38 percent from behind the arc.
With LaVine out, look for Brandon Rush to possibly start at shooting guard. Rush filled in for LaVine earlier this season and the veteran played well when called upon.
Minnesota hosts the Memphis Grizzlies tonight from the Target Center with tip off at 8 p.m.
