If you ever wanted to cruise with Bryant McKinnie on Lake Minnetonka, here’s your opportunity.
McKinnie is one of three former Vikings that will be part of a boat cruise to benefit Robert Griffith’s Griff24Seven Foundation on June 16.
The foundation provides college scholarships to underprivileged high school seniors, with the cruise fundraiser featuring McKinnie, Griffith and former tight end Byron Chamberlain.
Tickets for the event are available at the foundation’s website and are $125 until June 11. The price rises to $150 from there until the day of the event.
McKinnie, a Pro Bowl left tackle who played for the Vikings for nine seasons (2002-2010), was part of an offensive line in Minnesota that current fans would clamor to have. It featured 2020 Hall of Fame inductee Steve Hutchinson at left guard and six-time Pro Bowl center Matt Birk.
That said, the right side of the offensive line in the 2000s wasn’t a perfect picture, much the way things are present day. The teams McKinnie was a part of had a dominant left side while the likes of Artis Hicks, Ryan Cook, Anthony Herrera, Marcus Johnson and Adam Goldberg filled the right side of the line from 2005 to 2010.
McKinnie on Lake Minnetonka is sure to spring memories of the 2005 “Love Boat” debacle, where two massive boats hit the waters of Lake Minnetonka for an alleged sex party.
In the end, six players including Daunte Culpepper, Fred Smoot and McKinnie received misdemeanors. The cruise inspired a 77-page Code of Conduct for the franchise.
