Rock legend Paul McCartney will play Target Field on Aug. 2 when his international “Out There” tour stops in the Twin Cities, the Twins announced Monday.
Tickets will go on sale Monday April 28 at 10 a.m. via the Twins’ website. Prices have not yet been announced.
McCartney first visited Minnesota as a member of the Beatles in 1965. The musician has “long and storied history with the Twin Cities,” his website says, including shows on “The US Tour” in 2005 and “The New World Tour” in 1993, and a 1976 stop on the “Wings over America” tour.
It was also announced Monday that McCartney will play Fargo on July 12, Forum Communications reports.

Target Field has been host to just two major concerts, both by country music superstar Kenny Chesney. The first came with a double-bill show co-headlined by Tim McGraw in 2011. Chesney also played Target Field last year, drawing 44,000 people, KARE says.
The show isn’t the only major event at Target Field this summer. The Twins, of course, will also host this year’s MLB All-Star Game July 15.
In conjunction with All-Star Game, other events are expected to take place around the Twin Cities in the days leading up to July 15. Among them is a yet-to-be-announced concert event at TCF Bank Stadium.
News of the TCF Bank Stadium show was revealed by an unlikely source: Drum Corps International. The group explained on its website in February why its annual competition at TCF Bank Stadium was bumped.
“While MLB’s traditional mid-season game won’t be played on the football field of the University of Minnesota, a major concert event as part of the All-Star Week festivities will be hosted at the venue, thereby causing a conflict with DCI’s annual competition,” DCI said.
