The Yankees chased Francisco Liriano from the game in the third inning and went on to beat the Twins, 8-3 Tuesday night. Josh Willingham hit his American League-leading fifth home run of the season, but that was one of very few bright spots for the Twins.
Denard Span and Ron Gardenhire were ejected in the top of the third inning for arguing balls and strikes.
Liriano lasted just 2.1 innings, allowing five earned runs on seven hits and four walks. He struck out two. Through three starts this season, Liriano has a 11.91 earned run average.
