Joe Nelson is BTMN’s sports producer who knows his way around the Gridiron, Adam Uren is BMTN’s news producer from the U.K., who spends his time telling everyone how soccer is the much better sport.
Here is Adam’s comment on why he was picking Stefon Diggs against the Packers in week 2: “He had over 100 yards from Shaun Hill last week, if Sam Bradford is playing I expect the same plus a touchdown against the Packers.”
Talk about nailing the call.
Diggs’ 182 yards and touchdown not only sealed the Vikings win, but put Adam up 2-0 against Joe, aided as well as by 30-point performance by Arizona QB Carson Palmer.
Get their picks for Week 3 below (we use DraftKings pricing and the $50,000 limit). Before that – more trash talk.
Joe: “I’m just looking around to see who’s going to finish second.” (Joe stole that from Larry Bird).
Adam: “The only thing more depressing than your underwhelming fantasy picks is the Vikings treatment table.”
Joe’s team:
QB: Ryan Tannehill MIA (v CLE) – $6,200: Cleveland sucks and the Dolphins throw it a bunch. Tannehill will be one of the top-scoring QBs this week.
RB: Melvin Gordon SD (@IND) – $5,800: Gordon is suddenly good at football again and the Colts have the worst rushing defense in the NFL. Plus, San Diego might be the only team more banged up than the Vikings, so someone has to get the ball.
RB: Charles Sims TB (v LA) – $4,900: Sims is the go-to-guy in the Bucs’ backfield now that Doug Martin is out 3 weeks with a hamstring, so let’s chalk up some points for cheap here. I’m not confident in this pick, but I’m willing to sacrifice a bit for my next guy.
WR: Odell Beckham Jr. NYG (v WAS) – $9,100: It’s Beckham vs. Norman II. Last year these two clowns started a fist fight on the field, and based on how pathetic Norman has been through two games in Washington I fully expect the guy who’s mom went to high school in Minnesota to dominate.
WR: Stefon Diggs MN (@CAR) – $5,100: He’s the closest thing to Antonio Brown in the NFL. Diggs is a freaking stud no matter who he plays against.
WR: Golden Tate DET (@GB) – $5,900:Did you see what Diggs did to the Packers? Tate plays a lot like Diggs, meaning he’ll probably shred some cheese on Sunday.
TE: Clive Walford OAK (v TEN) – $2,800: The dude is the price of a 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix with 274,000 miles on it. Trust me, I would know.
FLEX: David Johnson ARI (@BUF) – $7,700: Buffalo can’t stop anyone and Johnson is about ready for a three-touchdown game. Book it.
DST: Dallas Cowboys (v CHI) – $2,500: The Cowboys at home against the Jay Cutler-less Bears is so easy to pick. The Bears really, really, really, really suck.
Total: $50,000
Adam’s team:
QB: Ben Roethlisberger PIT (@PHI) – $7,300: The Eagles have been impressive first two games, but they were against awful teams. Also, he’s called “Big Ben” so I’m picking him for the former Londoner in me.
RB: Theo Riddick DET (@GB) – $4,900: So the Packers shut down AP (permanently) last week, but I dare say they’ll be more concerned with Stafford’s arm this week, and with Abdullah injured Riddick will get a lot of looks.
RB: David Johnson ARI (@BUF) – $7,700: Selected Riddick means I can splurge a little bit on the most expensive running back this week. Joe had him last week and he scored a respectable 13 points. He’ll score more now he knows he’s on my team.
WR: Dez Bryant DAL (v CHI) – $8,400: He looked a bit more like him old self in Week 2 after a terrible Week 1 – and the Bears defense away from home should be ripe for the plucking.
WR: Larry Fitzgerald ARI (@BUF) – $6,900: I keep expecting him to be outscored by Michael Floyd or John Brown, but the Minnesotan keeps on killing it, so I’m picking him against an underperforming Bills D.
WR: Tajae Sharpe TEN (v OAK) – $4,700: He’s been catching balls in his first two weeks – including against the Vikings – and this time round he’s against an arguable weaker defense, so I’m hoping he’ll start adding touchdowns.
TE: Jimmy Graham SEA (v SF) – $3,000: Picking him more in hope than expectation. He should be dominant, but he probably won’t be.
FLEX: Sammie Coates PIT (@PHI) – $3,800: With Ben throwing I want to benefit from someone he’s throwing to. Coates I think will get on the end of some bombs. Also…I’m running low on funds.
DST: Houston Texans (@NE) – $3,000: They’re playing in New England but the Patriots have a third string QB lining up and J.J. Watt will be gunning for him.
Total: $49,700
Last week’s score:
We are using the scoring system from CBS Sports Fantasy standard leagues, which gives 6 points for a passing, rushing or receiving touchdown, 1-point per 10 rushing/receiving yards and 1-point for every 25 yards passing (as well as points for DSTs that limit scores, yardage, pick up fumbles, interceptions etc., and losing points for fumbles and throwing interceptions).
Here’s a link to last week’s teams and scores, Adam beat Joe by a tight score of 106-102.
