The Minnesota Vikings are hoping for another big step from their third-year quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
Despite leading the Vikings to their first division championship in six years, Minnesota’s passing offense ranked near the bottom in the NFL in multiple categories.
Bridgewater has thrown just 14 touchdowns in each of his first two seasons but owns a career record of 17-11 as a starter in the NFL.
In a recent interview with USA Today, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer praised his starting quarterback for what he contributes to the team and doesn’t seem to mind the lack of touchdowns.
Despite Bridgewater being the starter heading into regular season, if something were to happen to him, Minnesota would be in serious trouble due to their lack of capable starters behind him. Shaun Hill is the current backup.
The only quarterback with a solid pedigree who’s still looking for work is former Pro Bowler and human highlight reel Michael Vick.

Vick spent last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers and is on the record saying this upcoming season will be his last in the NFL. The 36-year-old is no longer a Week 1 starter but he has started nine games over the last three seasons.
Hill was expected to battle with Taylor Heinicke to be the Vikings backup, but Heinicke injured himself shortly before training camp in a freak accident and Hill hasn’t started a game since 2014.
The Vikings’ third option is Joel Stave who was signed as an undrafted free agent this spring from the University of Wisconsin. Although Stave was a starter for three full seasons, he put up pedestrian numbers at Wisconsin and was a turnover machine.
Before Nick Foles signed with the Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday, the Vikings were one of the teams reportedly interested in him. With Foles signed, there aren’t many options left for teams looking for a capable backups.
