Adrian Peterson is a beast.
The 78-yard touchdown run on the Vikings first play of the 2013 season proved that, the entire 2012 season proved that, and highlights like this prove that.
Detroit shut down AP after his touchdown last week, limiting Peterson to 15 yards on 17 carries, a level of production we haven’t seen from AP in quite some time. Heck, below six yards per carry hasn’t been seen in forever, let alone .88 YPC.
Here’s a few quick hitters that should make you feel a bit better about the Vikings heading into a stadium where they’ve lost five in a row and 11 of their last 12 games, Soldier Field.
- Adrian has rushed for 14 touchdowns against the Bears, his most against any team in the NFL. He’s also averaging five yards per carry while putting up over 100 per game against Chicago.
- Adrian himself gives Detroit credit for their week one performance in the middle, making him that much more confident this week: “They’re not Detroit up front.”
- The Bears aren’t as concerned with stopping AP as getting a pass rush on Christian Ponder, something that could work in the favor of the league’s rusher in 2012.
- A sense of urgency never hurts either, and Peterson sounds like he has that.
