So far, so good for the Twins new-look starting rotation.
Monday, Vance Worley went six innings, giving up three runs against the Tigers (a 4-2 Twins loss).
Yesterday, Kevin Correia went seven innings, giving up two runs (a 3-2 Twins win).
Today, Mike Pelfrey will try to continue the trend as the Twins take on Detroit in the rubber game of their Opening Season set.
For Pelfrey, it’s his first major league start since undergoing Tommy John surgery last May.
Manager Ron Gardenhire tells MLB.com: “It’s going to be a big moment for him.”
This spring, Pelfrey posted a 1-2 record, with a 6.38 ERA in 18-plus innings.
As for the Twins lineup, just one change … Jamey Carroll gets the start at second base instead of Brian Dozier:
#MNTwins lineup vs DET: Hicks CF, Mauer C, Willingham LF, Morneau 1B, Doumit DH, Plouffe 3B, Parmelee RF, Carroll 2B, Florimon SS & Pelfrey
