The Timberwolves and Grizzlies swapped role players on Tuesday. Minnesota sent shooting guard Wayne Ellington to Memphis for forward Dante Cunningham. Ellington never quite lived up to the hype as a shooter out of North Carolina. Cunningham averaged about five points/game last season.
ESPN’s Chad Ford took a look at the Wolves’ offseason moves thus far and said pursuing Nicolas Batum was the right idea, but the wrong result. He’s convinced this offseason’s success will be determined by Brandon Roy’s productivity. If Roy struggles, the Wolves won’t have done much more than grab a couple of decent shooters in Alexey Shved and Chase Budinger.
