Ricky Rubio won’t play Friday night when the Wolves are in New Orleans, but it’s possible that he does play Saturday at home against Dallas. Head coach Rick Adelman says if Rubio does play, a decision would likely be announced Saturday morning.
Wolves’ Vice President of Basketball Operations David Kahn is excited to see Rubio back in action, primarily because of up-tempo style of play and ability to lockdown opposing players.
Rubio will likely be returning at a good time. The Wolves, 10-9, have positioned themselves well in the Western Conference without Rubio’s services.
It’s been one month since Brandon Roy had a seventh career knee surgery, but he was back on the court practicing with the Wolves Thursday. Although his latest injury seemed to threaten his career, Roy says he never thought about retirement. There is still no timetable for his return.
Josh Howard missed Wednesday’s game against Denver with an illness. He was back at practice Thursday and traveled with the team to New Orleans.
Malcolm Lee injured his knee against the Nuggets and did not play in the second half. Adelman says he doesn’t know how severe Lee’s injury is, but he won’t play Friday night.
