Timberwolves training camp is right around the corner and they still have the ability to add two or three players to their roster.
Among those who could wind up signing are free agents Nick Young, Corey Brewer, Aaron Afflalo and Luol Deng, with 1500 ESPN’s Darren Wolfson reporting that the first three are set to work out for the Wolves in Minnesota this week.
Brewer was originally drafted by the Wolves with the seventh overall pick in in 2007. He was eventually traded away before returning to Minnesota in 2013, only to be traded again. The 32-year-old small forward split time with the Lakers and Thunders last season and shot just 28.3 percent from three while averaging 5.3 points per game.
Young, 33, scored 7.3 points per game in a limited role with the Warriors and was arrested in Los Angeles recently for allegedly obstructing justice by being uncooperative during a routine traffic stop.
Afflalo, 32, played a career-low 12.9 minutes per game off the bench in Orlando last season, but he still shot 38.6 percent from three, which is equal to his career average.
News linking the Wolves’ reported pursuit of Deng popped on Wednesday, and Yahoo’s Shams Charania says they’ll meet within the next week.
