The Timberwolves’ injury bug bites again.
The team says center Nikola Pekovic is out for seven to 10 days with a badly bruised thigh, which forced him to leave Thursday night’s game against the L.A. Clippers.
Alexey Shved also had to exit early with a sprained ankle. He’s reportedly considered day to day.
Ricky Rubio, meanwhile, is calling on his remaining healthy teammates to do a better job. Rubio says it’s no excuse that the Wolves are losing because of injuries. He tells the Pioneer Press everybody has to “step up.”
The Wolves, nursing a five-game losing streak, host Houston Saturday night.
