Bresnan Arena in the Taylor Center on the campus of Minnesota State University Mankato is going to be rocking at midnight tonight as the Timberwolves open training camp with “Dunks after Dark.”
The free event will kick off a new era of Wolves basketball as the team releases first-round picks Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine, along with new faces like Anthony Bennett and Thaddeus Young into the NBA’s wild. Kevin Love has departed to Cleveland where he’s aggressively searching for coffee on National Coffee Day.

Doors to the event open at 11 p.m. and the first 4,000 fans in attendance will get a Dunks after Dark t-shirt.
Flip Saunders, who returns to the floor to coach the Wolves for the first time since 2005, is looking forward to the daily grind of training camp.
“When you’re the president or GM, you don’t have any say on what they do on the floor,” Saunders told the Mankato Free Press. “The coach takes over at training camp. You’re there to help them both communicating with the players and make it an easier camp. But the coach is the one that sets the tone on the type of camp you’re going to have.”
It all begins today, Wolves Nation! Fired up?

The Star Tribune reports that NBA TV will provide live coverage of the event beginning at 11:30 p.m.
Dunks after Dark will resemble the “Midnight Madness” events college teams are known for hosting.
“I just thought it’d get us off to a very positive, enthusiastic, energetic start,” Saunder said. “And since I don’t go to bed until 3 in the morning, it doesn’t matter to me.’’
Media Day begins in a few hours, #DunksAfterDark is tonight & our regular season begins in exactly 1 month. Our face is officially changed.
