It was a double dose of good news for the Timberwolves on Sunday as they beat the Knicks and received a positive medical report on Karl-Anthony Towns.
Towns, who left Saturday’s game against the Wizards with a right knee injury, was held out of Sunday’s contest against New York with what the team described as right knee inflammation.
Multiple reports, including one from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, say the Wolves are optimistic that Towns avoided serious injury.

Head coach Ryan Saunders indicated late Saturday night that he had “not heard concern” about Towns’ injury being serious, so there appears to be a chance he’ll be back in the lineup when the Wolves return to action in Denver Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. (TNT televised).
Towns leads Minnesota with 24.5 points and 12.3 rebounds per game.
The Wolves have 15 games left and are six games out of a playoff spot entering play Monday.
