On a night the Timberwolves finally outscored a team in the third quarter, they laid an ugly egg in the fourth quarter and lost 99-93 to the Boston Celtics.
Minnesota led by 15 points late in the third quarter and by 13 points to start the fourth quarter before Boston went on a 19-0 run to take the lead and never give it back. Boston won the third quarter 31-12.
It’s the fifth time this season the Wolves have lost a game in which they held at least a 14-point lead.
Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine shot a combined 0-7 on 3-pointers. LaVine had just 11 points and Wiggins scored 14. Ricky Rubio’s horrid shooting continued. He made 1-7 shots and is now 4-23 in his last four games.
Karl-Anthony Towns and Gorgui Dieng each finished with double doubles. Towns had 27 points and 18 rebounds and Dieng ended the night with 20 and 10.
