It was Kevin Garnett’s night, but Kevin Martin’s game as he scored 28 points to lead the Timberwolves to a 97-77 victory over Washington.
After an electric introduction for KG, the Wolves stumbled out of the block letting Washington build an 18-3 lead in the early moments. But not all was lost and the Wolves chipped away thanks to a big first half from Martin to keep Minnesota in the game.
The Wolves battled back to tie it up at 42, just before halftime. A nice pass from Garnett allowed Nikola Pekovic to draw a foul, and he made one of two free throws to tie it up.

Rookie Andrew Wiggins stepped it up in the second half. He finished with 19 points, while Pekovic finished with a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Back to Garnett, though. His first big play of the game was a blocked shot and the Wolves fans responded in a big way.

Garnett checked out of the game for the last time with less than two minutes to play. He finished with five points and grabbed seven boards, but his presence brought a lot more than that to the team and the arena.
“We do not have a ticket left in our inventory,” TicketKing owner Mike Nowakowski told KSTP. He added that he hasn’t seen a Timberwolves game with that much excitement in 11 years.
