Budinger had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee six weeks ago. The same injury limited him to just 23 games last season.
Yahoo! Sports reports that Budinger is expected to make a full recovery. A timetable has not been set for his return to basketball activities.
Budinger agree to a three-year, $16 million contract with the Wolves in July.
The 6-foot-7 forward has averaged 9.4 points per game in his four-year career.
