Injuries have hit the Minnesota Timberwolves in the final two weeks of the season.
With only six games remaining, the Wolves are so injury riddled they didn’t have enough healthy bodies to log a full practice on Monday.
Wolves coach Rick Adelman said Chase Budinger and Shabazz Muhammad are “probably finished for the season,” according to a 1500 ESPN report.
Muhammad tweaked his right knee in the first half of Minnesota’s double-OT victory over Miami, on Friday night. He missed Saturday’s loss at Orlando. An MRI has revealed a right MCL sprain, but according to the report it does not require surgery.
It has been another difficult year for Budinger. He twisted his ankle in Orlando on Saturday night, just one night off of his season-high 24 points in the Wolves victory over the Heat on Friday.
Budinger missed most of last year with a knee injury. He also missed a large portion of the first half of this season for the Wolves. Budinger has played in a total of 64 games over two seasons with the Wolves, he remains under contract for two more, according to SB Nation.
Budinger and Muhammad aren’t the only two Wolves who will appear on the Wolves injury report. 1500 ESPN reports Kevin Martin and Nikola Pekovic have already been ruled out for Tuesday’s game against the Spurs.
All-Star forward Kevin Love missed Saturday’s game against Orlando due to back spasms. He plans to play on Tuesday.
Further complicating the situation, the Wolves are unsure of Dante Cunningham’s status. He was arrested for the second time in four days early Sunday for what police have described as “threatening messages.” Cunningham was originally arrested on Thursday and charged with felony domestic assault.
If Cunningham is not available Tuesday, the Wolves potentially could have just nine active players.
