We are just over 48 hours away from the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft and outside of USC QB Caleb Williams going No. 1 overall to the Chicago Bears, nobody seems confident of what will happen.
With the two teams drafting after Chicago – Washington and New England – in need of a quarterback the Vikings’ draft day decision seems to hinge on what those two franchises will do.
On Tuesday’s episode SKOR North’s Mackey & Judd, they discussed the Commanders’ impromptu “Top Golf visit” which reportedly included the four top quarterback prospects.
Jayden Daniels, who is currently favored to be selected No. 2 overall, was reportedly blindsided by the group meeting and expected a traditional one-on-one visit with the team. His agent Ron Butler questioned Washington’s decision, which has in turn led to people like Wolfson questioning Daniels’ desire to be in D.C.
Wolfson reiterated what he’s said for weeks that Daniels has “all sorts of interest, being here in Minnesota.” He continued hypothesizing that Butler could be attempting to position the LSU QB into a certain situation.
As for the Patriots, it has been rumored that they do not have an interest in trading from the No. 3 pick, but Wolfson isn’t ready to accept that as the truth just yet. Bill Belichick is no longer in the GM chair for the franchise, so first-year executive Eliot Wolf seems to be a wild card Thursday night and Wolfson questioned whether he has the final say or it will be someone in the Robert Kraft, ownership family.
Throughout the episode, Wolfson seemed hesitant to stamp his reputation on a specific player that Minnesota will end up with, but he was confident in saying that he thinks they will draft a quarterback in the top 10.
“Reading the tea leaves, the best I can, they’re going to get up from 11.” he said.
