Brian Dozier’s name was generating a lot of buzz ahead of Major League Baseball’s Winter Meetings.
Rumors about trades involving the Dodgers, Yankees or Phillies, where flying all over the place, but those meetings have ended and Dozier is still a Twin.
All along Twins baseball chief officer Derek Falvey and general manager Thad Levine said they weren’t actively shopping their second baseman and added that they’d need to be wowed to trade him.
Well apparently they weren’t wowed enough.
There is no deadline that says Dozier can not be traded in the next few weeks, but the Twins don’t have to deal him either. He is under contract through 2018.
Dozier attended the Winter Meetings this week where he met with Falvey and Levine and told them he’d like to remain in Minnesota.
Dozier is coming off a career season, he hit .268 with 42 homers, 99 RBIs and 104 runs scored.
However, MLB. com Twins blogger Rhett Bollinger notes that dealing Dozier could be one way for the Twins to find the young cost-controlled starting pitching they are looking for.
The team most reported to be interested in Dozier is the Los Angeles Dodgers.

While LA has some young and interesting pitching prospects, there is no rush to execute a deal without another team looking for a second baseman.
So at least for now, Dozier remains a Twin.
