If Game 1 is a sign of things to come then the best-of-seven series between the Minnesota Wild and Winnipeg Jets is going to be incredible.
Winnipeg took a 1-0 series lead with a 3-2 win over the Wild at Bell MTS Place. The game was a complete grinder filled with huge hits, big saves and even bigger goals.
After a scoreless, physical opening period the Jets struck on a power play goal by Mark Scheifele, and the game stayed 1-0 into the second intermission.
Minnesota came out firing in the third, with the tying goal by Matt Cullen 1:46 into the period and then taking a 2-1 lead when Mikael Granlund slid a pass through the slot for an easy tip-in goal by Zach Parise just 3:58 in the third.

The Jets came right back, tying the score 2-2 just 53 seconds later on Patrik Laine’s first career playoff goal.
Winnipeg then went on the attack, peppering goalie Devan Dubnyk with shot after shot until Joe Morrow’s blasted a slap shot between Dubnyk’s legs for a 3-2 lead with 7:05 left in the game.
The Jets finished with 40 shots on goal compared to Minnesota’s 20, and they out-hit the Wild 39-31.
Game 2 if Friday at 6:30 p.m. in Winnipeg.
