The broken hand that was painful enough to keep perhaps the toughest pound-for-pound player in the NFL out of the majority of the Vikings’ win over Green Bay Sunday won’t keep him from playing in the playoffs. Antoine Winfield told KFAN radio that he has the “offseason to heal” and he’ll “definitely be out there playing Saturday night.”
Winfield went on to say that he’s “not coming out of this game.” The pain was too much for him to play through and he was forced to leave Sunday’s week 17 win over the Packers in the second quarter.
The rest of the injury report included limited participation in Thursday’s practice for quarterback Christian Ponder. Head coach Leslie Frazier said Ponder’s bruised elbow is a “little bit tight” but he’s “going to do everything he can to make sure he’s ready to go.”
