The Vikings host the Atlanta Falcons in the season opener Sunday and there are some reporters wondering if Atlanta’s best offensive weapon will play.
Julio Jones went back and forth on the issue Thursday, first saying “I don’t know” if he’ll play after a reporter asked him about his contract extension with the Falcons still not completed. He then claimed he plans to play, so it’s gotta be one or the other.
Julio Jones: "I don't know" if I'll play Sunday regarding contract situation … also mentioned he's a little sore, so kinda hinting about injury too.

Asked a follow-up later, Julio Jones said he "plans on playing." Still seemed to leave it up in the air by saying "I don't know" as to if he will actually play Sunday.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio tweeted that he’s heard rumors of a new deal for Jones with the Falcons is nearing completion, and the Falcons were comfortable enough with the situation to tweet video of Jones’ press conference.

The fact that Jones has showed up to each practice, coupled with respected reporters saying a deal is close, Vikings fans shouldn’t get their hopes up because odds are in favor of Jones being on the field Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Jones finished last season with 113 receptions for 1,677 yards and eight touchdowns.
