Minnesota Wild defenseman Ryan Suter is in select company.
He’s been voted to the NHL’s First All-Star Team, surrounded by superstars P.K. Subban (Montreal), Sidney Crosby (Pittsburgh), Alex Ovechkin, (Washington), Chris Kunitz (Pittsburgh) and Sergei Bobrovsky (Columbus).
For Suter, 28, this is the first time he’s made an NHL All-Star team. He finished second to Subban this past season in the competition for the Norris Trophy, which is handed out to the league’s best defenseman.
Suter led all NHL players and set a Wild franchise record by averaging 27:16 in time on ice per game in 2012-13, topping 30 minutes on ice during 10 games.
