After picking up a massive 13-year, $98 million contract from the Wild in 2012, Ryan Suter has decided letting that money sit around isn’t in his best interest.
Instead, he’s using a bit of the massive sum to reconnect to his roots and get involved with hockey in an off-ice role.
Suter has joined the ownership group of the USHL’s Madison Capitols, a Wisconsin expansion team that will join the top U.S. juniors league next season.
Suter is a Wisconsin native and spent his only year of collegiate hockey playing for the Badgers, so naturally, involvement in such an undertaking only makes sense.
No word on how much of the team is Suter’s, but he is sharing the club with at least six others, including another former Badger, Tom Sagissor.
